WPA Supports Commerce Commission Ruling

The Wood Processors and Frame and Truss Manufacturers Association (WPA) have supported the findings of the Commerce Commission which has fined Total Frame and Truss Ltd for using substandard timber in its products, says WPA CEO Peter Bodeker.

“The industry alerted the Department of Building and Housing to this practice and is pleased that action has been taken.”

“WPA has been working with its members to ensure that timber is produced and tested to the highest standards and that only the correct timber is used in frames and trusses.”

“We have been working closely with DBH to develop better procedures to ensure the testing, labelling and construction of frames and trusses meet the highest standard including the use of third party audit to ensure this occurs.”

The industry will have no hesitation to alert DBH to any further breaches of the requirements, said Mr Bodeker.
