Strong commitment to continuing the work of the Wood Processors’ Association (WPA)
Leadership changes are underway at the WPA as a consequence of the recent, though unrelated, resignations of Dave Anderson, the founding chairman, and Peter Bodeker, the founding Chief Executive.
Rob Davies, Chief Executive of CHH Woodproducts New Zealand and Mark Hansen, Executive Director of Rosvall Sawmill Ltd in Whangarei have been appointed chair and deputy chair respectively.
“It is a credit to the leadership of Dave Anderson and Peter Bodeker that the WPA is able to make these changes without missing a beat in a very busy programme. Dave, who is stepping down for business reasons, has carried the baton since the beginning. He was inspirational in the establishment of the WPA and over four and a half years has overseen its growth through to the influential organisation it has become,” says Davies.
Peter Bodeker has taken on a larger role as Chief Executive Officer of the Seafood Industry Council.
“We wish Peter well in his new role. His dynamic leadership style has also been a major factor in the recent success of the WPA. He is an energetic and committed leader. Our loss is Seafood’s gain and the great news is that he will continue to help improve the environment in which all New Zealand businesses operate.
“Under the leadership of these two men WPA has already proven its worth to the industry. We have a strong voice with central and local government and alignment of thinking across the broader forest and downstream processing industries.
“There are many challenging issues facing the industry and, for that matter, the country, and leadership from this sector into the future is vital. We have made significant progress in terms of representing the needs of our members and we are looking forward to continuing to do so.” says Davies.
“Mark, the Board and I are committed to building on the legacy created by Dave and Peter, for which we thank them,” says Davies.
