Timber Grading

WPA has engaged Scion to prepare some research around the current sonic-grading standard ASNZS1748. The review of this standard will allow the use of sonic-graded timber in the Australian market.

WPA has also worked closely with organisations involved in the auditing of verified timber. A standard operating process document has been produced and is reviewed on an annual basis. The value of having this document is that it gives not only a degree of assurance that timber grading is being undertaken to the same standard across all timber graders and is being audited to the same standard, it also allows dialogue between merchants, sawmillers and those involved in the auditing of machine-stress graded timber processes.  Click the link below for a copy of the standard operating process document.
